Wondering what makes us tick @first? Check out below to better understand who we are!
Gospel essentially means “story”. When we talk about the gospel @First CRC we are speaking of how God has through Jesus Christ brought salvation. It is God’s story of how He is redeeming His people to Himself. As God’s people we are made a part of a much bigger story, and thus our story becomes a part of what God is doing. We are excited about the good news of the gospel, and want every part of what we do as a church to be thoroughly drenched with the good news of Jesus.
God's truth is revealed to us in the Bible, and it is this truth that we can place our feet on. In our culture and even often in the church there are trends that go one direction or another, but @First CRC we desire to be steadfast in holding to the truth even as we seek to clearly apply it to the specific needs and challenges that our generation faces. We believe that God's word is from God, and that every word of it is true and useful for our lives. We proclaim it perpetually, powerfully, and practically! Check out our beliefs tab to learn more about where we stand on contemporary issues, a summary of the gospel (God's story), and a place to access our confessions
@First CRC we love to worship, and as we worship we see that our lives are daily transformed and we become more like Jesus. We believe that the Holy Spirit works in our hearts and lives and changes us. We desire not only to know what the truth of the gospel is, but to see that transform our hearts, our lives, our families, our communities, and our world. We are humbled at the way that God gives life to us, and we love to have new people join us as we are being transformed and changed to be more like Jesus!
The church is a family. Like every family, we have a wide variety of people that come from many different backgrounds, but what brings us together is the fellowship that we have in Christ. After every morning service we have coffee and fellowship, have regular pot-luck dinners, and we are as a church committed to hospitality. There are Bible studies, kids groups, service opportunities, and volunteer opportunities available for members to serve the church and the community.
